About Frequency Conversion
Frequency measures the number of occurrences of a repeating event per unit of time. The SI unit is the hertz (Hz), equal to one cycle per second. Higher frequency units (kHz, MHz, GHz) are ubiquitous in electronics, telecommunications, and computing. For example, FM radio operates in the 87.5-108 MHz range, Wi-Fi uses 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, and modern computer processors operate at frequencies of 3-5 GHz.
Revolutions per minute (RPM) measures rotational speed and is commonly used for engines, hard drives, fans, and centrifuges. A car engine at highway speed typically runs at 2,000-3,000 RPM, while a standard hard drive spins at 5,400 or 7,200 RPM. One RPM equals 1/60 Hz since there are 60 seconds in a minute.
Frequency is also fundamental to understanding sound (audible range: 20 Hz to 20 kHz), light (visible spectrum: approximately 430-770 THz), and radio waves, making this converter valuable for engineers, musicians, and scientists alike.
